Future laboratory assistants learn how to check measured values

At the Federal Office for Radiation Protection, training places are provided for traditional administrative, technical and laboratory occupations. As part of their training, trainees pass through different administrative areas and specialist departments.

Training vacancies

Training vacancies are filled on 1 September each year. These vacancies are advertised on our website from October/November of the previous year.

Candidates are selected by 31 March, after the application deadline has expired.

At its various sites, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection provides training for the following occupations:

Salzgitter: IT specialist (male/female/diverse)

Munich: biology lab assistant (male/female/diverse)

Berlin: IT specialist (male/female/diverse)

As the number of training places in the individual vocational profiles depends on our operational needs, we dont offer each profile every year.

Training is delivered at a variety of locations. As well as attending a vocational school, the trainees also pass through different administrative areas and specialist departments. The time for which the trainees remain in the individual stages of training is defined by the training regulations for the respective vocational profile.

For technical occupations, the training leads into project work at the end of the second year of training. In terms of both the procedure and the type and scope of tasks, the assigned projects are intended to prepare trainees for the upcoming final examination.

Final thesesShow / Hide

Within the framework of a final thesis at the BfS, students can work independently and in a results-oriented manner on a problem / question from a specialist field.

Good cooperation between the university, the BfS, and especially the BfS supervisor is important here.

Supervision by the BfS consists of technical support in working on a topic as well as support in literature research and problem solving. The presentation of the results in the context of a BfS colloquium is desirable.
