The Fire Department employs over 720 full-time and approximately 2,100 volunteer firefighters. They stand by the citizens in all emergencies to ensure that fire and disaster protection in Stuttgart is guaranteed around the clock.

A Job That Will Inspire You

You will lead the Strategy and Central Management team and be responsible for the strategic direction of the Stuttgart Fire Department, as well as for coordinating and overseeing the updating, implementation, and evaluation of the fire service requirements plan

You will lead strategically important individual projects and be responsible for key aspects of project, process, and change management at the Stuttgart Fire Department, as well as for the development and implementation of a department-wide multi-project management system

You will be responsible for the areas of occupational safety, workplace safety, and health within the Stuttgart Fire Department and will further develop these areas

You will be responsible for developing and implementing the Stuttgart Fire Departments digitalization strategy and for the (further) development of data protection strategies

Following a training period, you will assume the operational roles of “Headquarters Duty Officer” and “Incident Commander”

Your profile that suits us

A college degree (Diplom or Masters) and successfully completed career training with a career examination for the higher fire service technical rank, or successful completion by September 30, 2026, at the latest

Ideally, you also have professional experience in one or more of the following areas: incident command, fire department resource planning, project management, occupational health and safety

Unrestricted medical and physical fitness for fire service duties, including the ability to wear respiratory protection

A valid Class B drivers license (a copy of the license must be included)

A strong work ethic, ability to handle stress, organizational skills, a high degree of initiative, and a responsible approach to financial resources are required

You are distinguished by strong leadership qualities combined with excellent communication skills and a goal-oriented approach, as well as initiative, creativity, decisiveness, and the ability to work across disciplines

You must meet the personal requirements for appointment as a civil servant and demonstrate personal suitability for the higher fire service

Proof of measles vaccination is required (for those born in 1971 or later)

We are offering a position in pay grade A 13 hD (€5,185.88 – €6,355.28).

All amounts are monthly gross figures based on full-time employment. The position is currently undergoing a reevaluation.
