Job description

The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a program for violence prevention, civil conflict transformation, and peacebuilding. In cooperation with civil society and government partners, the CPS program strengthens for example trust between conflict parties, supports the processing of violent pasts, and promotes inclusive civil society participation. Through dialogue and violence prevention measures, it also contributes to reducing prejudice and stereotypes. The PME Advisor ensures methodological quality and strategic coherence across all CPS levels, promoting a context-sensitive, aligned, and impact-oriented multi-level approach.

Your tasks

Joint Country Strategy (TLS): Advise Program Coordination on preparing, reviewing, and monitoring the TLS, ensuring alignment with CPS objectives

Program Planning & Monitoring: Support strategic and operational planning, implement impact-oriented monitoring, and integrate cross-cutting issues such as conflict sensitivity, human rights, diversity/intersectionality

Program Proposals & Portfolios: Contribute to new program proposals and portfolio drafts, ensuring compliance with EG and Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) standards

Project-Level Support: Facilitate participatory planning, monitoring, and evaluation with partners; apply suitable tools, define roles, and support reporting

Learning & Adaptation: Develop recommendations based on monitoring results to foster learning and adaptive management

Knowledge Management: Systematize PME findings, document good practices, and channel lessons learned into internal and external learning processes

Networking & Exchange: Contribute to knowledge sharing within CPS partners, GIZ CPS structures, the consortium, and GIZ platforms

Your profile

University degree in Social, Political, or Cultural Sciences, or a comparable professional qualification, preferably with a focus on Peace and Conflict Studies

Several years of professional experience in Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation

Several years of professional experience in civil conflict resolution and peacebuilding in crisis or conflict contexts, preferably as a CPS PME Advisor

Proven experience in project/program management and coordination; Expertise in conflict-sensitive approaches and participatory methods and in training, facilitation, and adult learning

Excellent communication, advisory, and interpersonal skills; strong self-organization, strategic thinking, and intercultural competence

Driving license and willingness to undertake frequent business trips in the region; Work experience in Africa is desirable

EU citizen

Fluent in German and/or English
