As a public administration specialist, youll work as a civil servant and gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of the responsibilities of a local government. Youll handle administrative procedures, apply laws, and make decisions that affect the daily lives of many people in the county.

Heres what you can expect

2-year teacher training program (starts August 1 of each year)

Civil service employment subject to revocation

Trainee salary currently at 1,591 euros per month, plus ongoing special payments (as of 2026)

30 days of vacation time based on a 5-day workweek per calendar year; Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are additional days off—with no deduction from vacation time

Theoretical instruction at the Hesse Academy of Public Administration in Kassel
