What youll do

The Systems Engineer Specialist is a key member of the IT Infrastructure team, responsible for the administration, configuration, and continuous improvement of core IT systems supporting end-user devices, identity, and enterprise applications. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining secure, reliable, and efficient IT platforms across the Microsoft ecosystem and related tooling. The role requires strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to system management, and effective troubleshooting skills.

Key Responsibilities:

System Administration and Maintenance:

Administer and maintain core IT systems, including:

Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) for identity and access management.

Microsoft Intune and JAMF for device management.

Microsoft Office 365 suite, including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and related tools.

MS Defender for endpoint protection.

Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) for collaboration and ticketing.

Monitor system performance, apply updates, and ensure optimal uptime for critical IT services.

Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide 2nd and 3rd-level support for IT systems and infrastructure issues, resolving escalated incidents efficiently.

Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement permanent fixes or system improvements.

Collaborate with IT Support and Hardware teams to address complex technical challenges related to device management and access.

Network Infrastructure:

Support and maintain Cisco Meraki infrastructure (APs, switches, security appliances)

Manage VPN access and ensure secure remote connectivity

Troubleshoot network performance and connectivity issues

Identity & Access Management:

Support identity and access processes using Microsoft Entra (Azure AD)

Implement and maintain:

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Conditional Access policies

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Contribute to identity governance activities such as access reviews and user lifecycle management

Automation & Configuration:

Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for routine tasks

Support system configuration aligned with internal policies and operational needs

Security and Compliance:

Apply and maintain security best practices across IT systems and platforms

Support adherence to internal policies and relevant compliance requirements

Operate and monitor Microsoft security tools (e.g., Defender, Azure security features) to maintain system protection

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.

Provide guidance and training to junior team members and IT Support staff on system usage and best practices.

Qualifications

Technical Skills and Experience:

Proven experience in a similar role, managing enterprise IT systems in a medium-to-large organization.
